Aldea Taína, Península de Zapata

Aldea Taína

The Taino Village is located in the Laguna del Tesoro. Today is one of the main tourist sites in the country since hundreds of people come here every day, both Cuban and foreign.

It was created to represent as faithfully as possible the life of the Tainos, an aboriginal community of the island that developed villages from hunting, fishing and agriculture.

The site is separated from the mainland by 8 kilometers of fresh water and we see here 25 statues molded in mud and cement made by the artist Rita Longa, but there are also replicas of the cacique's house, the behíque of the tribe, bohios, instruments of hunting and fishing and replicas of the caney.

It is right at the entrance to the Villa de Guanmá and its function is to promote the Cuban cultural roots, offering these recreations and also, live shows that recreate myths and legends.
