Armored Train
The action of derailment, assault and capture of the armored train in the Batista dictatorship by rebel troops in column # 8 "Ciro Redondo" led by Ernesto Che Guevara on 29 December 1958, was one of the most important events during the last insurrectionary phase of our deeds, so that on 29 December 1971 shall be erected a monument to such action in its own historical setting. Years later, on July 13, 1986 adopt a new artistic concept, and its author Cuban sculptor Jose Delarra.
The monument is located in an area of 50 m wide and 200 feet deep, bounded by the railroad and the river Cubanicay in Santa Clara, Villa Clara. This place was the site of derailment, assault and capture of the armored train in the Batista dictatorship.
